Third Revolution Projects gained planning permission in June 2025 for a solar farm with ancillary infrastructure, security fencing and access near Tivetshall, Norfolk.

The scheme includes a private wire connection to the nearby Simpson's Malt Maltings and will make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions to the fifth-generation family malting business. The proposals were approved via delegated decision.

The team secured consent on behalf of PACE, the applicant for this project. The scheme will produce approximately 27.9 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean renewable energy each year, which will be distributed to homes and businesses via a connection on-site to the local electricity grid as well as to the Maltings factory.

TRP worked with glint and glare specialists to ensure impacts on the local airfield were minimised. Design iterations included an early-stage site relocation, followed by a layout optimisation which involved a change in panel azimuth angle in a section of the site. Additional studies, as well as an updated glint and glare study, were commissioned to address further aviation matters.

The success of the application was in large part due to a robust public engagement strategy. Working with engagement consultants Alpaca, TRP involved local stakeholders, the LPA and the wider community through the various stages of the proposal. As a result, South Norfolk Council was able to issue approval through a delegated decision, avoiding the need for the application to go before the Planning Committee.
